Welcome to Stitch Sisters Quilt House!  We are thrilled that you are interested in our retreat house.  We are certain you will love the house as much as we do.  The house is a wonderful way for us to share our bond and wonderful memories with you.  We think you will feel it as you walk in the door!  Allow us to tell you the story of how the quilt house came to be . . .

Lori and her family had owned the house for many years and one of her kids and their family had enjoyed it.  Sadly, the kids moved out and the house was empty for a short time while deciding what to do with it.  In the meantime, our loving father passed away unexpectedly in October 2015.  Our parents had been married for 56 years, together since our mother was 15 years old!  So when November rolled around and the holidays are approaching, our mom was coming to stay for a few weeks.  Our mother and aunt are amazing quilters.  Shannon had been thinking of getting a sewing machine so she could learn to quilt.  With the recent loss of their father, this seemed like the time to jump in.  We learned of a quilt event at the fairgrounds during mom’s stay and Lori, Shannon and our mom went.  That event yielded a total of 4 sewing machines and one embroidery machine!  We even booked our first retreat at a facility in Idaho even though we hadn’t sewn since high school!  There was no looking back!!

About Stitch Sisters

Over the holiday, we set up our machines in the then just empty house next door to Lori’s home.  Lori’s husband posed the question of why we didn’t turn the house into a quilt retreat of our own!  An idea was born!  Little did we know that our Aunt Tillie had an entire quilt house décor virtually in her basement!  We we then blessed with other family members contributing items for the house as well.  The house was a labor of love and part of our healing process after the loss of our father.  The house has brought us closer to our mother and given us an opportunity to bond with our extended family as well.  We can fill the house with all the women in our family who now quilt!

While we played with many names for the house, we always came back to Stitch Sisters as we believe that is what we are with all who sew within the walls of the house!  We are blessed to have new Stitch Sisters join our family!
